Breed Photo Gallery

Below are some photos which demonstrate specific aspects of the breed type and standard.

HEAD - A modified wedge shape with rounded contours and a broad muzzle. The medium large cupped ears are placed to continue the line of the face

PROFILE - A gentle nose break gives a curve to the side profile between the eyes.

EYES - The medium large expressive eyes are almond shaped and slightly slanted

BODY - The body is well muscled, medium sized and of moderate foreign type, with a long elegant neck and legs

Many LaPerms have long soft earmuffs

COAT - the curly coat has a springy, textured feel. There is no thick undercoat and it is loose, bouncy and light with shaggy curls throughout, especially in the ruff. The plumed tail is curliest in the top side. The whiskers and eyebrows are also long and curly.

SHORTHAIR - The LaPerm Shorthair differs only in its coat which is short, wavy and textured, standing away from the body. The tail is rather like a bottle brush.

KITTENS - LaPerm kittens develop fast and are normally strong and healthy. They are inquisitive and playful with endless enthusiasm for the world. They may go through different stages as their coats develop including having a rather sparse coat which comes back fuller and curlier as the kitten grows.
